Lonely Planet Sweepstakes and Contests: Additional Rules
These Additional Rules, together with the Official General Rules (“General Rules”), govern the Promotion defined below to be conducted by Lonely Planet. These Additional Rules will prevail in the event of an inconsistency between the terms and conditions of the General Rules and the terms and conditions of the Additional Rules. By entering, you explicitly agree to these Additional Rules and to the General Rules governing Lonely Planet promotions. Incomplete, garbled, non-responsive and mechanically reproduced entries will be disqualified. If you enter using a mobile device, standard data charges may apply from your carrier.
PROMOTION: WIN A TRIP WITH LONELY PLANET JOURNEYS (“Giveaway”). The Giveaway will provide a $5,000 USD credit towards a Journeys planned trip to Adelaide, a city filled with award-winning restaurants and which serves as the entrance to the vast, open spaces of the Outback. South Australia packs an incredible amount of adventure into one destination. World-class wine is built into the culture, with legendary regions like the Barossa Valley just a short drive from the city. Beyond the vines, wild, up-close encounters take center stage, with kangaroos roaming freely and koalas lounging in tree canopies. Add in starry nights in the ancient land of the Outback, and it's a trip that unites relaxation and adventure down under.
SPONSOR: Lonely Planet Global, Inc. (“Lonely Planet”), 1423 Red Ventures Drive, Fort Mill, South Carolina 29707 is the sponsor of this Giveaway. Any questions relating to this Giveaway should be directed to Lonely Planet.
ELIGIBILITY: NO PURCHASE OR PAYMENT OF ANY KIND IS NECESSARY TO ENTER OR WIN. A PURCHASE DOES NOT IMPROVE CHANCES OF WINNING. The Giveaway is open to individuals who are residents of the fifty (50) United States or D.C. age 18or older at the time of entry.
Employees, officers and directors of Lonely Planet, their respective parent, affiliated and subsidiary companies, advertising and promotional agencies, web masters and web suppliers and persons engaged in the development of Giveaway materials (collectively, the “Promotional Entities”), and members of the immediate family (parents, siblings, children and spouse, wherever they reside) or household (whether or not related) of such employees, officers and directors are not eligible to participate in the Giveaway. Participants confirm that they meet all eligibility requirements.
PROMOTION PERIOD: The Giveaway begins at 12:00 p.m. Eastern Time (“ET”) on October, 2026, and ends at 12:00:00 p.m. ET on November 23 2026 (the “Promotion Period”). The server hosting lonelyplanet.com website is the official time clock for the Giveaway. Late submissions will not be accepted.
HOW TO ENTER: During the Promotion Period, enter online by 1) visiting the Giveaway website at [ https://www.lonelyplanet.com/campaigns/lp-journeys-south-australia-giveaway] , 2) filling in your email address, and 3) click the “Enter Now” button to submit your entry into the Giveaway during the Promotion Period. By submitting an entry, you are opting-in to receiving messages from Lonely Planet and Lonely Planet Journeys and you are confirming that you have read and agree to these Additional Rules and the General Rules.
Limit one entry per person by any method during the entire Promotion Period. Additional entries from the same person/e-mail address/IP address will be disqualified in Sponsor’s sole discretion. The creation of additional e-mail addresses to create additional entries beyond this limit is strictly prohibited and will result in disqualification of all entries from that person, in Sponsor’s sole discretion.
SELECTION OF WINNER: Sponsor will select one (1) Winner in a random drawing held approximately fourteen business days following the close of the Promotion Period from among all eligible entries received. Odds of winning depend on the number of eligible entries received.
WINNER NOTIFICATION: The Winner will be notified via e-mail at the e-mail address provided in the entry form on or before November 23, 2026. The Winner must sign and return an Affidavit of Eligibility and Release of Liability (where legal), within seven days following receipt in order to claim the Prize. If a potential winner does not return the signed documentation (including all necessary releases as determined by Sponsor in its sole discretion) on a timely basis, or if any notification e-mail is returned as non-deliverable, or if a potential winner is found to be ineligible or not in full compliance with the Official General Rules and these Additional Rules, then that potential winner will be disqualified, the potential winner slot will be forfeited, and Sponsor will randomly draw another winner in order to fill the winner slot, time permitting.
PRIZE: One winner will receive up to $5,000 USD toward a trip planned by Lonely Planet Journeys for winner and one guest (“Prize”). Any costs that exceed the Prize will be the full and exclusive responsibility of the Winner. If the selected trip does not use the entirety of the prize value, the difference will not be awarded. Prize cannot be transferred or redeemed as cash. The trip destination details by Lonely Planet Journeys will be available here: https://elsewhere.io/australia. Lonely Planet Journeys. Terms of Use and the applicable agency’s Terms and Conditions apply. Guest must also be at least age 18 or older at time of entry, hold a valid passport for the duration of travel. and must sign and return a liability and publicity release before any travel arrangements are made.
TRAVEL TERMS: Travel will occur during January-February of 2027. Travel must take place during the United route season, December 17, 2026 to February 10, 2027. Sponsor may extend this date in its sole discretion. Winner is solely responsible for all federal, state, and local taxes applicable to the Prize. Winner accepts all responsibility for ensuring that they follow each appropriate state and/or international guidelines and rules for travel to and from their destination, including but not limited to, guidelines and rules related to COVID-19.
